On a deeper level you are trying to make space for the authentic you to replace the mind. Stilling the mind and its favourite topics of rhetoric relaxes your body, for the mind tends to invent threats for you to react to and desires for you to achieve (even if they do not make you happy). Both these paths of thoughts are stressful, consuming and the opposite of what you could encounter, which is peace.

When you meditate, stimulate your senses not your mind. Burn aromas and have beautiful background sounds. Give your mind the job of focusing on these to enhance that sense of peace. Next try and observe your thoughts rather than be involved with them. Just let them go one by one and drift away. There is no good or bad, no judgements to be made. Place your mind on your sense of smell, hearing and your breath to try and quieten it from the chaos.
When you find a more peaceful space inside your mind listen to the wisdom that guides you. This is the observer mind not the daily grind!
Dedicating just ten minutes of your day to this valuable practice could enhance your mood, energy and diminish any uncomfortable symptoms. Relaxation in the mind allows relaxation in the body and relieves tension aggravating pain and discomfort.
Start with ten minutes and then see where you go. Before you know it this could become the most wonderful part of your day to which you dedicate more and more time as a priority. And then see what happens to the way you feel about things and what you learn about yourself …
